I know for me the fundamentals of Oxford and what it has taught me was a big part of my recovery so far. The way it is set up to be self governed by the members in the house is perfect in which it has shown me the life skills that I was lacking in accountability, gave me the desire to become dependable in society. It has also gave me the courage to understand that I can face life problems with confidence that I have healthy choices. Having Oxford the way that it is has gave me a safe place to start building a new life work on the problems that I have carried around with me for so long it has taken a person like me that has been homeless, been unemployable that was stuck in active addiction for 4 decades and has turned my life around to where I am actively helping others with there addiction issues and made me not only part of society but a person that knows I have value in my own life. Too change the way Oxford has been established would hurt and maybe hender the process of showing other addicts behind me that there is a safe, sober none using way out that they can call home.
