Hello, my name is Carribean Taylor and in am a current living member of the Annguthmiller Oxford house of Virginia. I have been at Oxford house for only a couple of months but already this house and organization has already changed my life. Even before becoming a member a member of an Oxford house, i would literally hear great things about Oxford from people who have lived here a very long time and are still currently residing with Oxford. I am a year and 3 months sober and i have made it through some terrible recovery homes. The day that i was accepted and moved into this house was one of the best days throughout my entire sobriety. I live at a beyond beautiful house that is self supporting and shows me the definition of sisterhood everyday. Before Oxford, even while in my sobriety there were still things i have had to change about my behavior, myself and my life. I learn new things every single day to help me become a better person. Oxford has given me hope, trust, motivation, and love. The ability to learn new ways of life so i can be a adult and take care of my responsibilities as a woman is something very important that Oxford has shown me. To take accountability and go for your goals and dreams. The women in my house are so very smart and has taught me so much just like someone has taught them. Oxford has an amazing ripple effect of strong growth and knowledge. If your the type of person like myself that cannot do it alone and prefers a little push with hope, then this is what Oxford is. This is not a business but a sanctuary and the focus here is to learn and share that growth while picking others up so they can do the same. Oxford has been so successful for a reason and unless you have lived it, i suggest you listen to the ones that are going through it like me. We do not need any changes that will nock a lot of Oxford house members on their back, don't make things harder because we have already been through enough. Oxford stands together and we will fight for our life of recovery and Oxford is apart of that! Thank You.
