My disabled daughter has been on the Virginia Medicaid waivers for over 21 years.  During that time, our various Service Facilitators have been instrumental in providing life saving information and personalized care to our family.  This is an incredibly needed personal service.  Any time of day that I have questions, our Service Facilitator is always there to help.  I do not feel we (or anyone on the waivers) will get the direct, personalized care from a Service Broker.  As it stands right now, even when we call CDCN, we receive a different answer (to the same question) from a different person each time.  The concept of a broker is too big in the sense that the information that will be handed out will come from "too many cooks in the kitchen".  With a Service Facilitator,  if a question is asked, if they are unsure of the answer, they will take the time to find the correct answer and not give a "cookie cutter" response.  Our goal should be to allow the people on these waivers to have as much normalcy in their lives as possible; including the right to choose.  Please make the decision to keep Service Faciliation as an option for the most vulnerable in our communities.
