Dental Hygienists are not just "Tooth Cleaners". We are Health Care Providers for patient's oral health which is connected to their overall health. For 32 years I have prided myself in educating all the patients about oral health which connects to their overall health. Our Profession has national standards, licensure, education & training to do the job. Why would patients expect loer standards of care by allowing uneducated, on the job training adn no regulatroy licensure to care for them? This will not solve the "Shortage" of hygienists and long wait times for cleanings. It is only driving a bigger wedge between Dentists and Dental Hygienists. If we are to work together as an oral health care team we need to come to the table to solve this problem. This bill will continue to divide the dental staff. Patient care will be affected negatively.  Please reconsider implementing regulations, standards in education and training and patient protections to create a new category certified Dental Auxillary.
