I remain against the lowering of quality standards for dental health for myself and my fellow Virginians. Last GA session (2026), a bill was passed with ADA support to allow poorly trained personnel to clean teeth rather than professionally trained and certified dental hygienists. Allowing relatively untrained persons to clean teeth (and not even below the gumline!), is not in the best interests of my health. I now must specifically request that a registered dental hygienist clean my teeth, putting all of the pressure on myself as a patient to know that this is necessary. Without a doubt, the general public remains unaware of this poorly advertised change to our collective health, or much greater pressure would be brought to bear on the dental community and legislators! Please undo what you have done, and bring back and secure the quality of Virginia's dental health system.
