Oppose Dental Assistants Scaling

  • Risk of Injury: Scaling uses sharp instruments above and below the gum line. Improper technique can damage gums and tooth enamel.
  • Insufficient Training: Dental assistants receive short-term training focused on supporting the dentist, not the deep biological and clinical study required for independent hygiene care.
  • Lowering Standards: Short certification programs oversimplify a therapeutic medical procedures.

I have been working in dentistry for 10 years. During that length of time I’ve been asked by more dentists on more occasions than I can count to provide unethical and unsafe treatment to patients. If you allow this law to proceed with no regulations, you are directly harming the public and their health.
