Strong No on the Expanded Use of Dirty Diesel Generators

The utilities' proposal to allow use of cheap dirty diesel generators during planned data center outages is driven solely by greed. Data center operators have sufficient time to find and implement options that are less harmful to human health and the environment. While these options may cost more, the trade off is more than worth it. If these utilities were run by competent business people who are able to act and think beyond profit, this proposal would be unthinkable. Good businesses are those that can provide a service and profit without doing harm to those they purport to benefit.
