I strongly support the petition and request regulation of menhaden to protect the Chesapeake Bay.  Action must be taken NOW to ban industrial harvesting of menhaden in the Virginia waters of the Bay and outside of the entrance to the Bay.  VMRC considers menhaden simply as a commodity to be sold.  The reality is that it is a keystone species for an ecosystem which is an incredible NATIONAL and NATURAL treasure. The menhaden population is faltering - affecting many species which depend upon them.  Not that VMRC cares about that at all, refusing to look at data and indicators that have been provided to them time and again.  Shame on you.  Here is yet another opportunity to do the right (ethically and morally) thing.  Please step up.
