Remove burden of proof

The ability for LRIs to serve as paid caregivers has dramatically improved our child’s care experience. He now benefits from the consistency of familiar caregivers and a predictable schedule, rather than having to adjust to constantly changing strangers. This change has also alleviated the burden of disclosing his diagnosis, avoiding the risk of misunderstanding or judgment. We urge the removal of the Objective Written Documentation requirement, allowing LRIs to continue as paid caregivers without the need for proof of the difficulties in securing low-wage, benefit-less workers. Additionally, providing respite to unpaid LRI caregivers would be a meaningful gesture of support for families who find temporary help but cannot secure long-term caregiving.
