In short, I absolutely support the residency process and have been a clinical supervisor since 2016. Residents often have to pay for clinical supervision services and function as independent contractors. The process is long for them extending several months with minimal income and professional expenses including liability insurance, rent, supervision, advertising, etc. Many residents must be employed in other organizations to earn income while completing their residency which slows the timeline for completion. We are in a high demand time and for residents to take three- five years to complete their residency because of remaining in a part time status due to income seems like a rectifiable problem.
