Is it even realistic that a child care teacher could follow all of these regulations while still providing a high quality learning environment for all children??
You would almost have to have one person in each classroom in addition to the teachers that is not working with the children be a licensing regulation implementer. How can 2 teachers with 20 preschool children wash hands all the time. Sit with children at lunch, get cots out and sheets on, use the potty and wash hands again, all while filling out parent communications and not feel rushed and still show patience and love towards the children And wouldn’t it be crazy if there was a behavior problem or teachable moment happening right during the middle of all this! Not to mention time for art, out door play, naps, snacks, more handwashing, learning, free play with friends, etc. etc! I don’t think you guys have an understanding of how with each new regulation you impose, the more unrealistic them all being flowed 100% of the time is.
I would love to see DOE try this on their own and see how it plays out! Take 2 great CLASS certified teachers put them with a group of 20 preschool children and have an inspector watch them all day making sure they follow every regulation. Does the classroom run smoothly, do the teachers and children seem happy? Are there great student and teacher interactions happening? Do they have time to make it through all their daily activities ? Are all communications and reports being filled out? Etc. etc. etc. It would be very interesting to see!
