8VAC20-781-110, Director Responsibilities:
Language needs to be added to clarify that a Director may be out sick and may take vacation time. I.e., "a center shall ensure a Director is" insert scheduled to be "on premises at least 50%..." To be blunt, I will immediately leave the field if I can't take a full week vacation ever, and I cannot be out when my daughter is sick. It is appropriate for short periods for an Assistant Director to be in charge. (It is my experience that it cannot be reasonably assumed a licensing specialist will use common sense about such matters; it is my experience the exact wording of the regulation will insisted upon even if completely unreasonable; therefore, language matters as you revise the Code.)
I see no provision for Teaching Assistants or Aide positions. I assume this is an error? These are important roles in a child care center; they should be specifically provided for by the code.
