For so many reasons we need to ban or limit purse seine fishing in the Bay!  First, the decimation in numbers of Menhaden! Second, the decreased numbers of Menhaden have led to a catastrophic decrease in nest success rates for Ospreys and the adults cannot find enough of the fish to fatten up for their migration south this fall! Thirdly as this petition states, the deep sea bad nets damage vital plant life on the floor of the bay. Lastly I have read that a Canadian Company is the chief offender in the purse seine netting! Why are we allowing this? Please do the right thing and if not banning purse seine fishing in the bay, limit it according to this petitions guidelines!
