The RGGI offers a number of benefits for Virginia. The RGGI member states have reduced emissions at a rate far higher than the national average, and added value to their budget. The initiative offers incentives to the state for reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and modernize our energy grid. Proceeds will benefit working class and low income residents, and help with flood preparedness, which is critical for the tidewater program. We stand to lose nothing by participating, and plenty by pulling out. This action is most beneficial to rural residents who may struggle to reliably power their homes and would likely invest in solar panels if possible. I don't see any real value in pulling out - who benefits? What good could possibly come of it?
Leaving the RGGI will harm Virginians, and appears to be a political stunt. I am strongly opposed to leaving the RGGI.
