Proposed draft regulations for pet stores that sell dogs and cats

I am writing to ask VDACS to strengthen regulations and penalties for violations of state law, similar to those in place currently for animal shelters, specifically, a $1,000/day fine for every day a violation goes uncorrected.

In addition, multiple pet stores across Virginia have failed to comply with a sensible, easy-to-follow law requiring them to display a sign stating that U.S. Department of Agriculture inspection reports for the breeders whose puppies they sell are available to customers prior to purchase. This should be information available to potential animal adopters.

Thank you.
