In order to ensure that the citizens of Virginia have access to safe water for drinking and recreation, you must not allow for large scale gold mining to commence without strict safety and cleanup requirements. Mining hazards can be deadly to workers and contaminate water sources. As an environmental studies student and activist I am invested in the preservation of our natural resources and am against exploiting them at the cost of people and nature.
