Dear Governor Youngkin and The Virginia State Legislature,
Coming from a person of faith and a student studying Environmental Sustainability Studies at George Mason University, I urge the Governor and the legislative body to refrain from reversing previous policy that intended to limit harmful emissions of greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to anthropogenic climate change. The millions of people around the world, from the Horn of Africa to Latin America to Bangladesh to Pakistan to even our fellow citizens in southwest Florida, are feeling the impacts of severe extreme weather events. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change body of the United Nations makes clear that urgent action is needed and must be sustained in order to avoid the worst ramifications of anthropogenic climate change. Please, do the right thing and do not play politics with the lives of fellow Virginians.
Sustainably yours,
Theodore Chaconas
