NATIONAL EXAM VS STATE
 

I have been employed in every phase of the assisted living industry since 2002. In 2004 I became administrator having attended the only dss approved assisted living administrator training class in virginia.I, just this week passed the NAB national exam after attending several prep classes and months of study.This of course was very expensive to me personally and my facility.Two thirds of my facility are medicaid funed so funds are limited.I was like everyone else upset to learn in 2007 of the empending national exam requirement.But this process was supposed to analyzed by the board of long term administrators and others and found to be the solution to the industries problem and of course after the governors approval became law.Now at the seventh hour the governor and this petition wants to revisit this issue.What about us 50 plus people  who have complied with the law,spent countless dollars and hours of study? Shouldnt  this issue been brought forward long before now? Why should we have a state exam based of the dss requlations? Arent we reminded of those every licensing inspector visit? But should the requirements change,we(those who have passed the national exam ) should be grandfathered in but if not we will be prepared to take that exam also.
