Carrying a concealed handgun within Virginia's state forests

Dear Sir,

I am writing to endorse the proposed amendment to Virginia State Forest Regulation 4VAC10-30-170, which would allow concealed carry permit holders who possess a valid permit to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense within Virginia's state forests. Those who possess a valid permit are proficient in the use of handguns. While in a Virginia state forest anyone could encounter a predator since predator populations are booming and incidents with humans are on the rise. Even here in Suffolk Virginia I have encountered coyotes and large black bears walking my dog on the edges of our development .  Recently i saw a report on Coyote attacks across the country to include attacks on adults.

Also the incidents of assaults by humans in the parks and forests in VA are on the rise. I believe citizens ought not be afraid to walk in our National and State Forests.
