The Second Amendment provides Federal reassurance the right of the people to protect their selves and their families at all times. Anyone associated with the law knows that not just anyone off the street can acquire a concealed weapons permit. Criminals will carry no matter the laws thus putting innocent people at risk.
People like I who have their permit do not leave their weapon when traveling even knowing a visit to a restricted park is on the agenda as it is ridiculous and defeats the purpose of carrying for self protection.
When I rarely find myself in restricted areas I will unload and lock away my weapon even though that still doesn’t qualify under the law. It is like you can travel freely armed and then there comes a situation to where you are faced with what to do with your weapon for the short time it is illegal to have in your possession? You surely do not travel hundreds or tens of miles back to leave your weapon at home again defeating the reason for having it on your person to start with? Do you go to a public transportation facility and rent a locker? Do you go to the local police station and ask they baby sit your weapon till you return? The idea that you can and in the same breath you can’t have a weapon in your possession is ludicrous. The U.S. Constitution provides the people the right to possess weapons for self protection, it also provides the people free travel within our own borders, but yet each individual state can determine as to whether you have the right or not, that makes some states in violation of the U.S. Constitution and yet no settlement has been made to rectify the rights of the people. In Virginia an individual can carry a weapon in to the General Assembly even while in secession yet it took all these years for an individual to be able to carry a weapon in a National Park? We are a free people yet we are not?
