| Action Summary |
This regulatory action is needed to amend and reissue the existing Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) General Permit for Noncontact Cooling Water Discharges of 50,000 Gallons Per Day or Less. This general permit regulation establishes limitations, monitoring requirements, and other special conditions for point source discharges of noncontact cooling water of 50,000 gallons per day or less to surface waters in order to maintain surface water quality.
The existing general permit expires on March 31, 2028, and must be amended and reissued to cover existing and new wastewater discharges from such sites.
