Action Summary | Chapter 1207 of the 2020 Acts of Assembly amended the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act (§ 62.1-44.15:72 of the Code of Virginia) and added “coastal resilience and adaptation to sea-level rise and climate change” to the criteria requirements for regulations to be established by the State Water Control Board for use by local governments under the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act. The proposed amendments to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Designation and Management Regulations (9VAC25-830) were developed pursuant to the requirements of Chapter 1207 of the 2020 Acts of Assembly and define specific criteria related to coastal resilience for Tidewater Virginia localities to consider in land development activities. |
