General Information
Action Summary The purpose of this amendment is to adopt Part 412 of Title 9, of the Code of the Federal Regulations regarding Label approval. The United States Department of Agriculture - Food Safety and Inspection Service consolidated the separate generic label approval regulations for meat and poultry products into a new CFR part applicable to both meat and poultry products. This change amends the regulations to expand the circumstances for generically approved labels. This change also combines generic label approval regulations for meat and poultry products and allows inspected establishments to generically approve labels that previously had to be submitted for formal approval.

Executive Branch Review This Action is exempt from Article 2 of the Administrative Process Act. The normal executive branch review process is not required. As such, it can be submitted directly for publication and is effective upon publication.
