Action:
Merger of Board for Opticians with the Board for Hearing Aid Specialists
Action 3728
General Information
Action Summary |
After a comprehensive review across state government, Governor McDonnell’s Commission on Government Reform and Restructuring recommended the merger of the Board for Opticians with the Board for Hearing Aid Specialists. At its 2012 Session, the General Assembly passed legislation endorsing the proposal to merge the Board for Opticians with the Board for Hearing Aid Specialists, and Governor McDonnell signed the bills (HB 1291 and SB 678 – Chapter 803 of the Acts of Assembly). By statute, effective July 1, 2012, these two boards will become one. Therefore, the regulations for the Board for Opticians must be amended to reflect the new board name and to move them (renumber) to the appropriate part of the Virginia Administrative Code due to the merger of the two boards. |
