Action Summary | Amendments are proposed pursuant to a biennial review of regulations as required by the Public Participation Guidelines of the Board of Medicine and by Executive Order 23(98). As a result of its review, the Board proposes amendments to clarify the use of unlicensed persons in the practice of physical therapy, to require proof of English proficiency for graduates of schools located outside the United States or Canada, to require graduates of non-approved schools to provide documentation of certification by the Foreign Credentialing Commission on Physical Therapy, to establish the passing score for the examination and to clarify certain requirements for practice and supervision of physical therapy assistants. In addition, the proposed amendments establish an inactive licensure status and those requirements for renewal or reinstatement of licensure which are necessary to protect the public health and safety in the delivery of physical therapy services. |
