Excelsior College supports the Board of Nursing's proposed action to revise its regulations to provide for provisional licensure. This will allow our graduates an opportunity to work as registered nurses and to meet the Board's requirement for supervised clinical experience. One benefit of the regulatory change is that it will provide a mechanism for RN licensure for graduates of competency-based education programs like our associate degree in nursing program. Students who are licensed practical nurses, paramedics, and military service corpsmen and come to their RN education with significant clinical health care experience have the opportunity to benefit from competency-based education programs and it is important to keep this option available on the spectrum of education options available to Virginia residents.
