I would like to comment on the training required to stay current with DCJS PSS Electronic Security Technician and Locksmith registration. The course options I have seen are lacking in relevance to my work and the locksmith course was particularly useless. There is a need to require minimum levels to receive a registration to work in the industry to “protect” the public, but it should be just that (to get into the field) once the minimum is met (basic knowledge and background check) the renewal should be just like the driver's license (a fee) and as long as you have not shown an inability to perform to that level (drive).
