There are many people in Virginia that truly love to hear the cry of hounds in pursuit of game. In my opinion you can't beat the "fire and fury" of a pack of Walker Hounds on the track of a fox, coyote or deer. I am a land owner (more than fifty acres) and running hounds in my family goes back six generations, that I know of. I've lived in the southernmost central part of Virginia all my life, a very rural area. The land cost and taxes here are relativity low compared to some other areas of the state and country. This attracts some people to this area, and many are ignorant of the ways of hound hunting. Some of them accept it, some have even embraced it and others seem to despise it, even though hounds people in the area have reached out to them to let them know we mean them no harm. I respect every persons rights under the law but, I OPPOSE the "Reasonable Efforts" section. I believe it is written to broad and will be very hard for CPO's to enforce. Many hounds people that I associate with already make reasonable efforts to to retrieve their hounds when they are on or near certain parcels of land. In my opinion another part of this is the moratorium on fox pens in  Virginia. There are too few pens in the state and many people have to drive more than an hour to get to one and then many times all the time slots for the pens are full. At this point people have to run their hounds on the "outside."
