Reduction Of Hours Will Only Hinder Future Stylist

Hello. Coming from a student who is currently enrolled in school, I am deeply concerned and disappointed for my future. I decided to go and get my cosmetology license because of my strong passion for hair. I have tried other professions and to have finally found my dream career was such a weight off my shoulders. Then, to hear that the hours for our license is getting cut made me feel that the weight just hopped back onto me. I do not feel that 1000 hours is enough to help me jump start my future career. I am also extremely disappointed that the hours for hair has gone down, but the hours for skin is now triple. I do not want a career as an esthetician, if I did I would have decided to complete my esthetician license instead of a cosmology license. Another point I’d like to speak on is: my dream is to own my very own salon. I now feel like that dream is slipping away due to the changes that are trying to be put into place. With the hours being cut and less of a focus on hair and more on skin, my dream of my own salon is not in reach. When I graduate, I will not have the experience nor be prepared to work in a salon, let alone own one. I cannot stress enough how important it is to not cut our hours and taking the focus of hair away from us. Please reconsider this detrimental impact that this will have on not only my career, but the future of this career for every single person.
