I am concerned about siltation control at construction sites. Several years ago when site prep for Millbrook High School was being done there were three successive siltation fence failures that allowed heavy siltation on my property resulting in a fishkill in a small farm pond and ultimately into Red Bud Run. My complaint to the school system and the contractor resulted in a biased study by Triad Engineering defending their work as "meeting specs." Oviously their siltation control efforts were not sufficient, so I robustly request that stronger rules be made to uprade the siltation and runoff control measures. A neighbor who inspects such matters for Loudoun County was flabbergasted at the situation we had. A similar situation has since occured at the Red Bud housing development site prep resulting in direct runoff into Red Bud Run which incidentally is being cultivated as a trout fishery. These two experiences have convinced me that the current siltation requirements are not sufficient to safeguard our waterways and that enforcement is also lacking.
