How can any of you, with a clear conscience, make the proposed changes to Virginia voter registration? Are you totally in the dark regarding our current illegal immigrant issue? Not undocumented....ILLEGAL! Why on Earth would you make it easier for the American citizenship requirement to be bypassed by removing a required positive action by anyone registering to vote? Simply signing a piece of paper without making a positive acknowledgment that you have answered the citizenship question is useless. The signer can simply affix his/her signature and later claim that they did not understand, or simply did not see, the "terms & conditions" of the application. Forcing a positive response to a mandatory and 100% necessary question is far superior to your proposed changes. And it costs zero more dollars to do so.
So, why in heck is this even necessary? Is it because the applicant may not speak English? Then that's a totally different issue, and they should not be allowed to simply sign a form without understanding what they are signing in the first place. Perhaps a requirement for speaking and understanding English should be your higher priority.
This is a waste of time, taxpayer money, and effort, and you all should have much more important work to do. Shame on you all, every last one of you.
