The issue at hand, IS NOT a lack of education. Our professionals are well informed of practices that promote health and safety for us and our customers. It is a lack of enforcing rules and regulation of non-compliant licensees, if anything, that presents a threat to the industry. The existing curriculum and testing process are more than adequate to insure public health and safety. Sanitation, and better health practices are discussed at every hairshow, throughout classes. A news letter to all licensed cosmotologists, addressing issues the state is concerned about, would be more effective than mandating expensive and time consuming classes, review practices that have changed little if any since we got our licenses. This would be effective at, if nothing else, putting our minds back on safety. The proposed re-education process looks like another way for the state to bilk our professionals out of more money.
