. Please consider the following comments and recommendations on this screen and those that follow:
6VAC20-171-135. Firearms endorsement.
1. An immediate restriction from 12 months down to 90 days could make the scheduling of retraining while maintaining operational schedules for armed registrants more difficult, especially over the first year.
2. Suggestion: to allow for a smoother transition, the period should be adjusted to allow a greater envelope of time at least for the first year (180 days) reducing it after that first year.
3. Suggestion: increase the number of days from the last 90 to last 120 days
6VAC20-171-376. Handgun range qualification. Scoring and several math issues
1. Section A-1; states “Equipment needed…ammunition (48 rounds)” However, at the range, students fire 96 rounds, or (108 handgun rounds if also qualifying on shotgun)
2. Section B-1 Scoring indicates 5 points per round within the rings on target
* 48 rounds @ 5 points = maximum total possible of 240 points rather than 250.
* Minimum score—75% of 240 is 180 or 36 hits, rather than 38 hits
3. Section C-2 Scoring . Low light practice/familiarization course of fire for handguns
* There should be no need to score for practice and familiarization.
