Purpose of legislation
The purpose of the legislation is to allow charitable organizations to conduct Texas Hold'em poker tournaments as a means of raising charitable funds. Under the legislation, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services must promulgate regulations that prescribe the conditions under which a qualified charitable organization may manage, operate, conduct, or contract with operators to conduct Texas Hold'em poker tournaments.
