Please do not limit services to a max of 20hr/week

I strongly oppose any proposal to limit ABA therapy to a maximum of 20 hours per week. My son is 4 years old and has received 40 hours of ABA therapy per week for the past year and a half. The progress he has made during that time has been life-changing for our family. ABA has substantially improved his developmental progress, social skills, communication abilities, and emotional well-being. Before ABA, my son participated in Early Intervention services for one hour per week. While those services were helpful in preparing him for the next stage of support, they were not intensive enough to produce the meaningful developmental gains he has achieved through daily, routine ABA. The difference between one hour per week and the individualized, consistent support provided through ABA has been significant. All individuals learn through repetition and practice. Neurodivergent individuals often require considerably more repetition, structure, and reinforcement than their neurotypical peers to develop, generalize, and maintain new skills. This takes time; it’s not something that can be achieved in only 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week. The progress my son has made is directly tied to receiving the level of therapy that meets his individual needs. A blanket limit of 20 hours per week ignores the fact that every child is different. Decisions regarding medically necessary therapy hours should remain between families, healthcare providers, and clinical professionals who understand a child's specific needs. Limiting access to appropriate levels of therapy could slow progress, reduce opportunities for growth, and ultimately prevent children from reaching their full potential. Please consider the experiences of families like mine and preserve access to individualized ABA treatment plans rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all cap on services.

Oppose the 56 hour cap on DD waiver

I strongly support the Arc of Northern Virginia's comments and strongly oppose the proposed 56 hour cap on DD waiver and CDPA care and replacement of service facilitators with the brokerage model.  Thank you!
