Cultural Competency requirements for teacher license

To him it may concern

The parents and communities of the state of Virginia voted to remove all liberal woke policies from our schools and communities. You must not add this measure for our teachers. This is a prejudice practice and divisive in our classrooms and in our Commonwealth. We are loosing so many good teachers due to this type of abuse.

Optional for Teachers

If teachers feel the need to have cultural training, it should be left up to them to seek this out for themselves and for their own professional development. Making this a requirement for licensure and renewal is unnecessary. It will also add to the booming Mandate economy due to covid and CRT. If we as a people have learned anything these past two years it's that Mandates and forcing people to do something enmass doesn't work.

Get rid of this for employees it is divisive and unnecessary!

This is not necessary! Especially since you call it SEL but it’s really CRT causing children to apologize for the color of their skin and become activists. We all bleed red and we should be bringing people together instead of creating a divide. Nothing that this BIden administration has put forth in regards to education is normal!! Look up the ED Covid 19 Handbooks, 1 & 2 spell out how the US Department of Ed calls it “inclusive and equitable” however it’s filled with segregation and decisive strategies to brainwash the children. It’s an absolute disgrace! Leave the children and teachers alone with this propaganda. ALL LIVES MATTER.

New Administration, New Direction

The voters of the Commonwealth have spoken with a unified voice to *reject* all attempts to impose CRT ideals upon teachers and our public education system. Virginians reject racist, divisive ideology. Do NOT now ignore this mandate by adding a regulatory mandate requiring all educators be marinated in this archaic, evil, discriminatory methodology. Ignore the taxpayers and voters who rejected this racist indoctrination at your professional peril.

QUIT DIVIDING US EVEN MORE!!!

If TRUE history was actually being taught and not this inclusive crap that is doing nothing but causing more division along us, people might actually learn to not see color.  They would learn from our ancestors what not to do.  We are all equal, not all of us see color.  These teachings though point out the differences and do nothing but intensify the racism in this country!!

Cultural Competency? You mean training teachers to treat kids differently based on their skin color? No thank you!! Kids can barely read, write, and do math yet they are being advanced to the next grade level. Teachers don’t even have enough time to teach the basics. Teachers should not be forced to become social justice warriors.

Cultural Competency

What is cultural competency anyway? Our children need to read competently, they need to calculate math competently and am I asking to much to have them investigate and explore problems and come up with THEIR OWN conclusions. A so called teacher does not need cultural competency to teach children. They just need to love children, knowledge, and learning.

No CRT!

Cultural competency yes, CRT NO! Teachers should not be indoctrinated with political and ideological material that they then teach to children. Any training that includes information along the lines of critical race theory is not only politically biased but divisive and harmful to not only children but our nation. Educators should recieve training that is unbiased and reflects the academic, emotional and social well being of all children.

Cultural Competency and Quality Instruction Can Both Exist

Cultural competency is NOT CRT.  CRT has been such a distracting 'squirrel tactic' to what is intended to increase an educators knowledge and appreciation of other cultures beyond their own.  A truly fully inclusive learning environment can only be achieved by a culturally competent educator.  To be culturally competent in no way results in a decline in quality of instruction, but instead enhances it as students and teachers can build better connections and greater engagement within the learning environment.

This is madness!

The more racially propagated agenda that you push, the more racial division you create. Who determines what is included in the cultural competency curriculum and have those individuals been properly vetted by a bipartisan panel? This amendment is inappropriate, unnecessary and has nothing to do with student achievement. Stop failing our students by giving tools to educators that create division and mistrust in the system.

Do not support

Cultural competency should not be part of teacher licensure.  Who determines what is cultural competent?  There are so many cultures across the world and many cultures can be within races.  We need to get back to basics and focus on actually ensuring our teachers can teach our students without political biases.  Ensuring they can simply teach the subject and create an environment where our students strive for excellence.

No to Cultural Competency Training

There should be no cultural competency training. There are certain things that need to be taught by the parents. We must give the respect and responsibility back to the parents. To open a child's mind to such subjects is harmful to the young innocent minds of our youth. There innocence is steadily being taken away and by many who claim they believe in Jesus. Each one of you have taken an oath to serve Virginia under the Constitution of Virginia, but for those who did swear, “so help me God”. Please think of the higher ways and thoughts of the God you swore too!  We must not leave God out nor His standards for they push us to be better people.

Please “pass/kill” the bill on the cultural training.

Sincerely praying for Virginia to return to the characteristic of her name which means Virginal and Pure.

Thank you for your time and patience.
