I am writing on behalf of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners (VCNP) in support of the proposed action to amend 18 VAC 90-30-240 which sets out provisions for the delegation of certain disciplinary cases to an agency subordinate.
The proposed amendment will allow the regulatory boards to delegate informal fact-finding duties to an agency subordinate, including current or past board members and professional staff, or others deemed appropriately knowledgeable based on their training and experience in the regulation and discipline of health professionals.
VCNP supports the proposed amendment and agrees that the proposed regulation is another tool which the health regulatory boards may use to bring closure to nurse practitioner cases in a more timely and efficient manner.
Bringing a speedier resolution to disciplinary cases is a positive step, both for the public and the health care practitioner involved, and VCNP appreciates the opportunity to submit public comment on this issue.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Carola Bruflat, MSN WHNP
