PDC Boundaries

Thank you for the opportunity to submit comments regarding PDC boundaries in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

As it relates to the Northern Virginia Regional Commission we believe the boundaries for our planning district should remain the same.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

PD16 - GWRC

Please keep PD16 the same. Do not move King George or Caroline Counties to either the Northern Neck (PD17) or Middle Peninsula (PD18). There is fear that a regional transportation authority will be forced on PD16 by the legislature and if King George and Caroline move districts they will not have to be a part of the RTA. The problem is that all PD16 localities are growing in population while PD17 and PD18 are losing population. KG and Caroline will not be served properly by moving planning districts.

Revise boundaries based on population and demographic changes

Regional concerns and demographics have changed significantly and need to be taken into consideration. Some of the smaller rural counties are currently partnered with other who have grown significantly and now have different needs. For example, the Rappahannock-Rapidan region's transportation study reflects population growth with two counties Culpeper and Fauquier having nearly double the population of the other three. https://cms9files.revize.com/rappahannock//Document_Center/Rural%20Transportation%20Technical%20Committee/2021/RRRC%202045%20RLRTP%202-10.pdf

The larger counties which feed large metropolitan areas should be grouped to better coordinate transportation and housing projects, while smaller more rural counties would benefit from collaboration that makes sense to them and their strategic plan.

Keep the boundaries the same - update the demographics

I feel the boundaries are fine but the demographics need updating for Rappahanock-Rapidan Regional and CAMPO.

Eastern Shore

To ensure proper levels of assistance and service levels, please do not change the boundaries of the Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission which includes Accomack and Northampton Counties. Isolated from mainland Virginia, it is critical to the population to have focused assistance and local services offered on the Eastern Shore.
