We recommend a revision to the statement, "I will complete a DBHDS competency checklist (DMAS P241a) that is maintained in agreement with DBHDS requirements..." The DSP does not complete this checklist, rather it is the responsibility of the supervisor to complete the checklist after observing and assessing the DSP for skill level and competency. We recommend revising this statement to, “I will work with my supervisor on the completion of the DBHDS competency checklist….”
I agree with the recommendation that it be clear the competency checklist is completed with the direct supervisor. It would also help to mention the timeframe for when initial checklist is due and then every year thereafter.
I agree with previous comments about reflecting the supervisor completion of the competency documents.
However, I do not agree with #4
#4 should be placed as #3 as you cannot attest something is being done if it has not been completed yet. If it remains in numbered order this way, then #4 should state the following:
4) The above events #1 and #2 occurred prior to my providing direct reimbursable support services under the BI, FIS, or CL Waivers. Event #3 will be completed within the required time frame as indicated by regulatory requirements.
I agree with the recommended changes
Please clarify that item #3 does not have to be completed prior to providing billable services. The way item #4 reads on the form could be interpreted that items #1, #2 and #3 on the DSP Assurance Form are all required to be completed prior to providing billable services. For item #3, our understanding is that only Competency 3 is required prior to billable service and the other competencies must be completed within 180 days of employment.
