This is an excellent change that will support the use of Crisis Stabilization Units in providing residential treatment to individuals in crisis. These individuals on a TDO could have ended up in a state hospital bed, thus contributing to the current state hospital bed crisis. While providing financial support for the behavioral health services at both crisis Stabilization Units and state hospitals of individuals on a TDO will strengthen the overall structure of residential/inpatient services in Virginia, I believe the primary asset of this proposal is to provide the needed financial support so that more individuals in crisis can be diverted to a Crisis Stabilization bed.
