The proposed standards set forth in SEL are dangerous and damaging policies for our children and society. Creating an environment where children are taught they are either a victim or an oppressor, based solely on their race, sex, or socioeconomic background, is toxic. Our country was founded on principles of freedom, opportunity, and justice for all, and teaching a child that they are permanently barred from full exercise of those freedoms by virtue of their immutable characteristics is a lie, and racist and sexist to its core. Critical race theory, and the guilt riddled "white privilege", and "woke" ideologies should have no place in Virginia education. Moral education of children is not the place of the State, it is the responsibility of the parents or guardians of the children to raise kind, just, and morally upright citizens.
