The language of the proposed standards is vague (apparently intentionally so), and often Orwellian; but the obvious intent is to provide a pretext for a concerted program of K-12 political indoctrination of all public school students and teachers with the ideology of the ruling party, and for the systematic bullying and persecution of any students and teachers who are less than enthusiastic, especially members of religious minorities.  They glorify group-think at the expense of independent thought and critical thinking, promote hatred of specific racial and religious groups under a hypocritical guise of "tolerance," and encourage contempt for democratic values.  IMO, comparisons between this policy and the "educational" policies of regimes like Nazi Germany and current and former Communist states are not unfounded.  If this administration was less concerned with using schools for this kind of socio-political brainwashing, and more concerned with imparting literacy, computational skills, basic civic and historical knowledge, and understanding of factual science, public school graduates might become a lot less deficient in the latter areas.
