I strongly oppose the SEL initiative.  In enacting this legislation, Virginia will remove the last remaining responsibility from parents and place it on schools.  Teachers already have enough to deal with without placing on them the burden of a child's emotion/spiritual outcome.  That responsibility lies with the parents and should remain there.  Schools should limit their focus to traditional academic subjects and stop trying to manage the political, religious, and emotional worldview of children.
