Please Pass The Poultry Litter Regulation

July 4, 2009

I am writing on behalf of the 4000 members of the Virginia Council of Trout Unlimited. We are concerned about the health of the streams and rivers in Virginia. To this end, we urge the State Water Control Board to amend the existing Virginia Pollution Abatement (VPA) Permit Regulation for Poultry Waste Management and to establish requirements for end-users of poultry waste to ensure that poultry waste is being used in a manner in which state waters are being protected and nutrients losses are being reduced and that these reductions can be measured. Such an action would help preserve our natural resources and enhance the quality of life for all Virginians.

Respectfully,

Robert C. Rosenthal, DVM, PhD
