Please Pass The Poultry Litter Regulation

1) Maston Gray
2) 262 River Road, Rileyville VA
3) Have a 1 acre plot w/ log cabin riverside, up stream from Jeremy's
Run and across from the GW National Forest: I am very very tired of
watching fish kills, excessive sediment, fish eating advisories in DGIF
fishing rules, massive amounts of water growing weeds during summer, and
piles of white suds that stain the rocks and accumulate in the river
every month of the year round from the excessive phosphates in the
river. The sud piles get as big as refrigerators or freezers, smell, and
stain shoreline and rocks - so if they stain the rocks imagine what it
does to the stomach of a fish or bird that eats the fish. Fishing has
been down steadily for past 12 years, some short up-swings occur but
then along comes the non-point pollutants from the poultry and hog
farmers. If you have never seen a 3 eyed fish or a dual sex fish or
large open sore tumors on fish scales and skin, you are not missing
anything. Humans are killing the river, the excessive well drilling has
lowered the water table and pollution is higher than in history. What is
allowed to happen that harms the river is criminal, and the State DEQ
and federal EPA should monitor, indict, fine and jail those that are
responsible. If someone poured that much manure in your back yard or
water source, am 100% sure you would do something. The pollution has
severely impacted tourism, vacationing and river interest, many
long-time residents just don't fish anymore, or go elsewhere.
4) What you think about the pending regulation: Enact, Enforce, and
Ensure Polluters are fined and jailed for 'poisoning' public waters,
which are 'your waters' and 'our waters'. Let's take our rivers back and
make them like we found them.
