I wanted to be on record as supporting the continued regulation of the licensure of soil scientists. Soil science is a special skill set that is acquired through years of experience and education. Deregulating this profession may result in an increase of unqualified individuals performing work affiliated with this profession. An increase of persons performing work that they are not qualified to do, may lead to an increase in poor designs and failures, thus posing a risk to the public health. I support the continued regulation.
