I strongly support the continued regulation and licensure of soil scientists in Virginia.  As a licensed professional engineer, I often rely on their work when designing onsite wastewater dispersal systems and residential and commercial septic systems, particularly shallow placed alternative systems.  The importance and integrity of their work cannot be undermined as it directly relates to the health and safety of the public.  Improper analysis of soil as it relates to potential on lot septic systems can directly lead to system failures.   Properly trained and certified soil professionals is a must.
