Student in STRONG SUPPORT of Continued Licensure for Landscape Architects

I am currently a freshman in the five-year landscape architecture program at Virginia Tech. While I have only just been welcomed into this field, I have had the opportunity to experience the importance of licensure through meeting licensed professors at this university. It is critical to my education that the people who instruct me understand the profession and can prove it with licensure. I have had the best learning experiences at Virginia Tech when being instructed by a licensed professor. The importance of licensure when it comes to public health is significant for all Virginians, as climate change is not avoidable but can be managed. Without licensed landscape architects the threats to our health only increase as unlicensed individuals could bypass codes they never knew existed. I thank you for welcoming my perspective and giving us all the opportunity to be heard.
