AGAINST regulation of common interest community managers

Governmental oversight, regulation, and licensing of common interest community managers only serves to provide a false sense of security that license holders are somehow more competent, ethical and professional.  This is not the case.  Individuals in the association management field are ethical and professional by choice not by mandate and the initial and continuing educational requirements for licensing don’t automatically create a competent manager.  Experience and quality mentoring is the best way to create competent managers.   Homeowners concerned about protecting their investment should volunteer to serve on their community board of directors thereby taking a front row seat in oversight and accountability rather than depending upon an inefficient governmental bureaucracy to do it for them.
