Continued licensure for backflow prevention testing

Backflow testing is critical in keeping the water system safe. Therefore, testers need to be required to have training on testing backflow devices properly. In the absence of proper training and certification, anyone could be allowed to test a backflow prevention device and certify it as a "passing" device.  Frederick Water dedicates a considerable amount of money in resources to verify that every backflow prevention device in our system has been inspected on an annual basis. It is that important. Accurate testing and maintenance of backflow devices are essential for the prevention of potential contaminants into the water supply. Without licensure, the system will be undermined.
